Checkerboard Tray

I’m going through some things and throwing out the old and no longer needed. Then I ran into this. It’s an altered tray I created many years ago.

Outside is painted with acrylic and collage with pattern paper that’s been inked to create the subtle colors that you see. It’s also been stamped to give more depth.

Then the images of the actual board was created using patterned paper, then inked on every other square to give the checkboard look but in a different way. The images were stamped along with a texture stamp again to give it more depth. Outside the board and on the board was painted with acrylic and covered with a varnish.

The last image you can really see the different inks used to come up with the colors on the board. A slight blue hue, over yellow, orange and terracotta. And you can really see the texture stamp just giving it an altogether different look.

You can also see the images in this gallery.
